Act One and Act Two Drama Facilitator

Job title - Act One and Act Two Facilitator (Jan-March 2024) 

Location - Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation, Oakley Rd, South Norwood, SE25 4XG

Contract Type - Temporary Freelance Contract (January - March 2024) 

Rate - £100 per evening - typically 3h 30m (2h 45m facilitation)

Purpose of the Role

 

To plan, facilitate and evaluate drama based sessions with Act One (6-8yrs) and Act Two (9-11yrs) on term time Friday evenings. To use drama as a vehicle to enlighten, inspire and challenge these two groups of young people. To celebrate the uniqueness of each young person, while uniting them as an ensemble of performers. To collaborate with the young people to put together a sharing for parents/carers/guardians for an end of term celebration lasting 10-15 minutes for each group. 

 

Dates and Times 

 

Friday 5th January - 3.30 to 7pm 

Friday 12th January - 3.30 to 7pm

(Week off due to production week)

Friday 26th January - 3.30 to 7pm

Friday 3rd February - 3.30 to 7pm

Friday 9th February - 3.30 to 7pm

(Week off for half term) 

Friday 23rd February - 3.30 to 7pm

Friday 1st March - 3.30 to 7pm

Friday 8th March - 3.30 to 7pm

Friday 15th March - 3.30 to 7pm

(Week off for production week)

Friday 29th March - 3.30 to 7pm (Sharing from 6pm)

Typically the structure of each evening will be:

 

3.30pm - Arrival

3.45-5pm - Act One

5.15-6.45pm - Act Two

6.45-7pm - Debrief

 

Personal Specification 

 

Essential

  • To have training or considerable experience facilitating drama with young people aged 6-11yrs.

  • To be registered as self-employed.

  • To have experience of working with a mixed ability group of young people.

  • To champion access to the arts for all.

  • To have experience of putting together performances with young people for an audience.

  • To have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding.

  • To have an DBS check within the last 2 years or be on the update service.

 

Desirable 

  • To have experience working with young people who are neurodiverse.

  • To have facilitating additional skills such as music, puppetry, poetry writing, dance etc. 

  • To have an understanding of Croydon and its culture.
