There is to be a CYTO Xmas Fayre will be on the 26th November from 11:00am – 3:00pm. The Fayre is to help raise some money for CYTO and kick-start the Christmas season.
If anyone has anything they think will be good for us to sell (in good condition) please bring it in asap. We are happy to take anything from Christmas decorations to old games and books. We are also able to “rent” tables to anyone who would like to sell their own goods or arts and crafts. And,of course, we couldn’t do a Fayre without our cake and biscuit stall, so if there is anyone who is a budding Jaime or Nigella and likes baking, we will be ever so grateful. Finally, we do need volunteers on the day and any help is hugely appreciated.
If anyone is interested please do not hesitate to contact Debbie Lindsay c/o CYTO either by phone on 020 8655 1098 or by email to mail@cyto.org.uk
Technical Workshops are every Monday evening from 7:00pm – 8:30pm with Alan Clarke. (not Half Term) You can learn lighting, sound, stage management, set-building and prop-making. All the things that have to be done to make the show, around the actors/musicians/dancers on the stage. These skills are vital to making CYTO productions.
If you haven’t been before, please give CYTO a call – on 020 8655 1098 – to tell us you’re planning to come.
(Thank you to the new-style Croydon Youth Service (IYSS) for helping to make these workshops possible).
The CYTO Xmas Cabaret will be on the 16th December at 7:45pm. Anyone who comes to either the Friday Night Drama or Tuesday Dance Workshops will be able to ask to be considered for the programme. Tickets will be on sale next month.
A series of Jazz and Street Dance workshops will be starting back up again on Tuesdays from 8th November from 7pm with Tash Yates. They will be open to all ages (13 – 25) and abilities. Sessions will include working up pieces for the CYTO Christmas Cabaret on 16th December.
Friday night workshops are up and running. Alan Clarke is running them pretty nearly every week (October 28th) and is joined by a variety of other tutors each week – Owen Kingston, Sandra Grant, Lucy Oliver. After Half Term, on some Fridays, Lucy will be on hand to help Friday Night Workshoppers with singing and song-writing. If you’ve been before, doors are open from 6:30pm if you want to come down and catch up with friends beforehand. If you’re trying CYTO for the first time, it’s best to come around 6.45pm so we can say hello properly. The workshop is from 7:30pm – 9.30pm. (Thank you to the new-style Croydon Youth Service (IYSS) for helping to make this possible).
There will be auditions on Sunday 6th November, between 1pm and 6pm (more details of times to come).
Performances will be on January 26th – 28th. The cast will need to be available for rehearsals on Sunday afternoons and one week-night from the week beginning 7th November until show week when you will possibly be needed every night except one.
A group of CYTO Senior members will be performing ‘Punk Rock’, a play by Simon Stevens, on 17th – 19th November at 7:45pm. Tickets are priced at £6 full price and £4 for concessions and will be on sale from 31st October. Call 020 8655 1098
As the end of term approaches, a group of sixth-formers in a public school prepare themselves for the end of their school lives. But as the world begins to open up before them, they are faced with the very real danger it could swallow them whole.
The characters expose the violence simmering under the surface of achieving success.
Please note: This play does contain strong language and subject matter which may cause offence.
This is an invitation to all artists, doodlers and graphic designers.
The ‘curtains’ have served CYTO well for some years but it’s probably time for something new. Please let us have your ideas, no matter how sketchy, by 1st October. There will be a very modest prize for the chosen design!
A group of Seniors will be presenting Punk Rock by Simon Stephens on 17th, 18th and 19th November at 7.45. Tickets on sale soon.
